New head for two EASA members - EMMA and ENPA

Ilias Konteas has been appointed Executive Director of the European Newspaper Publishers' Association (ENPA) and the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA), two of EASA’s members.

Following EASA’s Board meeting in Budapest and pending final approval by EASA’s General Assembly, Mr Konteas will be representing EMMA on EASA’s Board and Executive Committee and Joy de Looz-Corswarem will sit on EASA’s Board for ENPA. EASA is pleased to welcome Mr Konteas.

European Commissioner Gabriel welcomes industry initiative for a Code of Practice on online disinformation

Online platforms and the advertising industry have today unveiled a self-regulatory Code of Practice that includes a wide range of commitments to fight online disinformation.

Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, welcomed this as a step in the right direction, but urges the platforms to increase their efforts to fight the spread of disinformation online.

EASA and several of its industry members were involved in the process as part of the Multistakeholder Forum on Disinformation initiated by the European Commission.

ICC Releases Revised Advertising and Marketing Communications Code

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has published its revised 10th Edition Advertising and Marketing Communications Code for 2018.

The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) was involved in drafting the new Code as part of the Code Revision Task Force. To formulate EASA's position for this process, it consulted its members which are the practitioners in charge of applying the principles of the code at national level across Europe.

Release of a draft Code of Practice on online disinformation

On the occasion of the third meeting of the Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Online Disinformation held on 17 July, in the presence of Commissioner Gabriel, the Working Group of the Forum delivered as requested by the Commission a draft Code of Practice to tackle online disinformation. The Working Group, of which EASA is a part of, is composed of online platforms, leading social networks, advertisers and the advertising industry incl.
