21 February 2025
PRESS RELEASE
The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ludovic Basset as its new Director General, effective 3 March 2025.
Before joining EASA, Ludovic Basset led the EU affairs practice of US automaker General Motors. His 20 years of experience in Brussels includes senior leadership roles within European organisations, notably two European sector associations, as well as overseeing the Brussels office of a public affairs consultancy.
Mr. Basset, 48, started his career in academia as a lecturer in European law. He holds several undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Law, International Relations, and Political Science from French and UK universities. A French and Belgian national, he speaks French and English, as well as some German and Greek.

EASA Chairwoman Orla Twomey commented: “We are delighted to welcome Ludovic Basset as our new Director General. His extensive experience, strategic insight, and deep understanding of the European regulatory landscape will be invaluable as EASA continues its mission of promoting responsible advertising practices.”
Upon his appointment, Mr. Basset stated: “I am honored to join EASA at this pivotal moment. I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Lucas, whose dedication and vision left a lasting impact on our organisation. With the advertising industry undergoing profound transformation, I am committed to fostering collaboration, innovation, and ethical standards across the sector. Together with our members, colleagues and partners, we will continue to shape a responsible and impactful future for advertising in Europe and beyond.”
Mr. Basset succeeds Lucas Boudet, who sadly passed away in September 2024. The EASA community remains deeply grateful for Lucas’s remarkable contributions, and looks forward to starting a new chapter for EASA, following in the legacy he built.
